SASSA Clarifies Payment Dates For R350 Grant
Many successful applicants have been waiting for SASSA to process the payment of the R350 grant. SASSA has given clarity about the payment dates. The Special Covid-19 grant of R350 is set to come to an end in April.
SASSA has said there is no fixed date for the payment of the grant. Applicants will be paid as long as they qualify.
SASSA has reassured many applicants that payments are however still in progress.
The agency said the following on social media:
… there is no set date for R350 SRD payments. We will date back-date all the months due to you.
Applications for those who have been approved will be reviewed on a monthly basis in order to verify that applicants still meet the requirements to qualify for the grant.
If you have been approved for the R350 SRD grant and have been receiving payment, you will be paid for the extension.
SASSA has also said that if you are not receiving your social grant payment due to changes to your banking details or contact details, you should then visit https://srd.sassa.gov.za to update your details.
During one of his famous addresses, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the following:
We have therefore decided to extend the period of the Special COVID-19 Grant of R350.
According to the Minister of Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu, more than 42 000 have deregistered from the grant as their living conditions have improved.
The Special COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant is a temporary provision of assistance intended for people who are in dire material need that they are unable to meet the most basic needs of their or their families.
Social Relief of Distress is paid to South African citizens or permanent residents, who have insufficient means and meet one or more of the criteria for the grant.
