Have ID Ready When Contacting Us, says SASSA

SASSA has given instructions when it comes to contacting them whether it be to ask about your R350 grant or other SASSA grant enquiries. SASSA provides grants to assist with the livelihoods of vulnerable citizens of South Africa.

SASSA recently updated what needs to be done when contacting them. On Wednesday, the agency posted a message on social media saying that when beneficiaries contact them, they should have their IDs ready.

This applied for when beneficiaries are calling the SASSA call centre and also when sending emails. In the case of an email, clients are urged to include their ID number in the subject line.

SASSA can also be reached by sending a direct message on their social media pages.

SASSA provides financial assistance in the form of social grants to South Africans who are vulnerable to poverty.

SASSA provides various social grants such as grants for children, older persons grants and disability grants as well as the R350 Social Relief Distress (SRD) grant, which was introduced during the Covid-19 crisis.

SASSA was created in 2005 to distribute social grants on behalf of the Department of Social Development. This was done to improve the standards of living in the country and are given to people who are vulnerable to poverty and/or in need of support from the government.
