SASSA Grant Payment Dates For May 2024

As we are now reaching the start of May, it means that it’s almost SASSA pay day. Here are the grant payment dates for May 2024.
The South African Social Agency (SASSA) released the various payment dates for the month of May 2024, they are as follows:
- Older Person’s Grants 4 May 2024
- This includes any grants linked to these accounts
- Disability Grants 5 Mayl 2024
- This includes any grants linked to these accounts
- Foster Care Grants 6 May 2024
- Care Dependency Grants 6 May 2024
- Child Support Grants 6 May 2024
SASSA has encouraged beneficiaries to not hurry to collection points when they receive their payment SMS to avoid long queues and the possibility of being turned away without any assistance.
SASSA distributes grants to poor and vulnerable South Africans.
The applications and appeals process for the Special Relief of Distress grant, which saw beneficiaries collect R350 every month, came to an end on 30 April. SASSA has however said that if you did not collect your R350 grant before 30 April, you will still be able to after.
Payments are made from the month you applied or sent in your appeal which means that payments will not necessarily have stopped on 30 April. SASSA has not announced when payments for the grant will come to an end as SASSA has experienced payment backlogs.
SASSA was created in 2005 to distribute social grants on behalf of the Department of Social Development. This was done to improve the standards of living in the country and are given to people who are vulnerable to poverty and/or in need of support from the government.
SASSA distributes the Care Dependency Grant, Child Support Grant, Disability Grant, Foster Child Grant, Old Persons Grant, War Veteran’s Grant, Grant-In-Aid and the ever popular Social Relief Of Distress Grant.
