The admission requirement for students with Dutch previous education is a VWO diploma. Some programmes require students to have a certain profile or a specific level of Mathematics. With a VWO diploma, you are not required to provide additional proof of your English proficiency.
It may be possible to be admitted to a Bachelor’s programme after completing the first year at a university of applied sciences (HBO-p). In those cases, additional certificates may be required to prove that your knowledge in some courses is on a VWO level.
For more information about the admission requirements when applying with a VWO or HBO-p diploma, visit the website for the Bachelor’s programme of your interest.
Non-Dutch previous education
Your foreign diploma must be equivalent to a Dutch VWO diploma or a higher-level diploma. Additional requirements may apply, for example, a diploma from an academic stream or a specific level or course in Mathematics. This also applies to diplomas that are considered to be equivalent, such as, but not limited to the International Baccalaureate, European Baccalaureate, German Zeugnis der allgemeinen Hochschulreife and British GCE-A Levels. Your diploma will be assessed on an individual basis in order to determine whether you can be admitted.
For English-taught programmes, we require an English language proficiency certificate. If you have obtained a European diploma with English in the final examination, it may be possible for you to be exempt from providing an additional English language certificate. Please note that language requirements may differ between programmes.
If you wish to be admitted to a Dutch-taught programme, you will need to provide one of the certificates specified here(page 20).
